I just found out that Jason Molina (Magnolia Electric Company and Songs: Ohia) died on Saturday. Most people haven't heard of him or his bands, but he was a huge influence on me, the sound and direction of RCE, and my approach to songwriting. The "Electric" in our band name was basically an homage to him (with the "Rust" coming from my love affair with Neil Young). Jason Molina split my heart. -Paul

Happy New Year!... We're celebrating by coming out of our winter slumber for a show at Kelly's Bar in Hamtramck on February 15th with the Whiskey Charmers. Good times!

We posted a new live video on our YouTube channel. It's the "full" version of Slow Burn from our show in March at PJ's Lager House. Thanks to Matt D for recording!

Happy Thanksgiving! We're thankful for our good friends that came out to the Loft on Wednesday. Captain Ivory and Whitey both played great sets... and the folks at the Loft are a fine bunch of people. Check out the photos from the show.

We've launched a RCE Mobile Site. Grab your favorite smartphone or tablet and check it out (or, if you're like some members of RCE and have a notsosmartphone, borrow a friend's). Feel free to let us know if things are working (or not).

After much deliberation and careful consideration, we've decided to come out of hiding for an evening of big rock and big fun. We're very excited to be playing on Thanksgiving Eve in Lansing with Whitey Morgan.

Ghosts and Pride is finally available for digital purchase! Still no solid plans to print physical CDs or records, but that might change down the road. We also have a new show on the calendar in May... and possibly another coming before then. Carl Yute is playing bass with us now, he's awesome. Everyone is busy... as always. We have some new songs and we're looking forward to doing a bit more recording this year.

Not much updated on the site. We had a great show at Woodruff's last weekend. Aside from a small technical difficulty, it was a great set and quite a few people stuck around until the bitter end. Jeni Lee was nice enough to take a few photos for us.

Everyone in the band is quite busy right now, so we're laying low for a bit. We're also working with a new bass player because Steve decided that the life of a very part-time rock'n'roller wasn't for him. In all honestly, Steve is making some great changes for himself... and although we're sad that he can't play anymore, we're happy for the time he was with us and excited for him personally. He will surely be missed.

The last thing to report is that Ghosts and Pride is finally mixed. It's being mastered right now and should be available online pretty soon. For the time being, we're only going to release it digitally, but hopefully, we'll print CDs eventually. The album really turned out great and we're very proud of it.

August 12, 2011:

Welcome to the Rust County Electric website. RCE is a rock'n'roll band based in and around southeast Michigan. We're somewhat old, we can be quite grumpy, and we generally play at volume deemed excessive by most. Our first album is tentatively entitled "Ghosts and Pride" and will be completed and available for purchase soon.

RCE is also a acoustic or roots rock band on occasion. Shows in this format feature acoustic guitars, pedal steel, banjo, tamborines, and other noisemakers. Take note, this version of the band is much quieter than the electric version. Be not afraid, eardrums. We're preparing to record another album while finishing up the first. The second album will feature 7 or 8 songs and recording should begin soon.

With all that being said, feel free to take a spin around our website. There's not a ton of content yet. But, we're always adding more. Please check out the "VAULT". It's a gift from us. Last thing... please sign up for our email list. We promise not to spam you constantly, but we will send updates when we have upcoming shows or good news.

Thanks, -Paul and RCE
